LG GM200

LG GM200

Connectivity
The handset’s EDGE/GPRS and WAP capabilities can be used for internet access
and downloading emails as the GM200 supports IMAP and POP accounts. Other modes of connectivity include Stereo Bluetooth and of course USB 2.0.

Misc Features
The games included preloaded onto the handset are quite average like Sudoku. LG’s Data Wallet for storing important information and password protecting is present along with other basic features like a Calendar for appointments and schedules, Alarm clock, Memo pad, To Do list, variou8s converters, a Calculator, Stopwatch and even a World Clock.

Another interesting feature loaded onto the handset is in the Profile section. While personalizing your various Profiles on the handset you can use the Smart Profile feature wherein the handset, though the use of a built in noise sensor will set the volume for you automatically in conjunction with your surrounding. What that means is, if you’re in a noisy area the ringing volume will automatically be adjusted to compensate for the noise and same thing would work in areas where the ambient sounds are not too loud. In that case the handset would set the volume to a more appropriate level.

Camera
The 2 megapixel camera is quite average. I couldn’t seem to activate it via the button on the side though which is very unlike nay other handset. The features include a timer, burst mode, color settings and White Balance. It also shoots videos at 15 fps.

Images in broad daylight are quite clear except if there’s anything moving. If there is you’ll end up with a blur. Don’t expect too much out of the camera but it’s there when you need it.

Battery
On a single charge I was able to use the GM200 for over two full days. The usage included music, a little video, a lot of messages and quite a lot of talk time as well. With just talk time, on a average it ran up to about five hours and a few minutes give or take. Brilliant!

The Bottom Line
The official MRP of the LG GM200 is Rs. 8,250 while the MOP (Market Operating Price) is just Rs. 6,250. While I do believe that the GM200 is a great handset I also think that for that price it should have included at least a 1GB memory card and a higher display resolution. But with an MOP like that, well that put a whole new spin on things. It’s worth a consideration if you’re looking for superb sound quality, great battery life in an otherwise simple looking non-flashy handset.
